Privacy policy
Last updated 9 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Lucent Cube collects through lucentcube.com, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. In short: we collect your email address to tell you about Lucent Cube, we never sell it, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
Lucent Cube is designed and assembled in the United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us about anything in this policy at info@lucentcube.com.
What we collect
When you join our list we collect:
- your email address;
- which page and sign-up form you used, and the date and time;
- any campaign tags in the link you followed (for example, which advert brought you here);
- your browser type (its “user agent”), to help us spot problems and automated sign-ups.
When you browse the site we also receive basic, cookie-free visit statistics (pages viewed, referring site, country, device type) from Cloudflare Web Analytics. We don’t use these to identify you.
If you back Lucent Cube on Kickstarter, Kickstarter collects your pledge, payment and delivery details under its own privacy policy, and shares what’s needed to deliver your reward with us.
How we use it, and why we’re allowed to
- Launch news and build updates by email — a short welcome series, then occasional updates until the Kickstarter launch, and campaign updates while it runs. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Understanding what works — which pages and adverts lead to sign-ups, using the campaign tags above and cookie-free statistics. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the site.
- Advertising measurement — only if you accept advertising cookies (see below). Legal basis: your consent.
- Showing our ads to similar people — we may upload an encrypted (hashed) copy of the list’s email addresses to Meta or Google so our adverts reach people with similar interests, and so you aren’t shown sign-up adverts you don’t need. These platforms match and then delete the hashed addresses. If you’d rather not be included, email us and we’ll exclude you.
- Keeping sign-ups genuine — Google reCAPTCHA (through Firebase App Check) checks that sign-ups aren’t automated. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in preventing spam and abuse.
Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We use these service providers, who process it on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase) — stores the sign-up list and runs reCAPTCHA spam protection;
- Sender (Sender.net, EU) — our email service provider: it holds the mailing list, sends our emails and records opens and clicks so we can improve them;
- Cloudflare — delivers the website and videos, provides cookie-free visit statistics, and runs the small job that passes new sign-ups to our email provider;
- Google Ads, Meta and Reddit — advertising measurement, only if you accept advertising cookies.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or the UK’s approved safeguards (such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum).
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you’re subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep only a record of that address on a suppression list so that we never email you again. Ask us to delete everything and we will, within 30 days.
Cookies and similar technologies
We ask before setting any advertising cookies. Until you choose “Accept”, the Google Ads tag runs in a cookie-free mode and the Meta and Reddit pixels don’t load at all.
| What | Purpose | Set when |
|---|---|---|
| Your cookie choice (stored in your browser) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined | When you choose |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Spam protection on sign-up forms | Pages with a sign-up form |
Google Ads (_gcl_*) | Measures which adverts lead to sign-ups | Only after “Accept” |
Meta Pixel (_fbp) | Ad measurement and audiences on Facebook/Instagram | Only after “Accept” |
Reddit Pixel (_rdt_uuid) | Ad measurement on Reddit | Only after “Accept” |
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email info@lucentcube.com and we’ll respond within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top, and tell subscribers by email about any significant change.
